Don 2 – Movie Review

Don 2, Farhan Akhtar’s sequel to his own remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Don’ has the “Baadshah of Bollywood” back in the shoes of the “Bad Guy” – memorize it was his performances in negative roles during the early part of his career that got everyone to notice Shahrukh. 5 years after his outing as Don, SRK is back with a bang, once again!
If one memorizes well, when Don came out five years ago, it didn’t open to such a good response although it finally ended up being a hit. Enacting a legendary character that was made so popular by the Big B and trying to remake the very popular original were huge risks. Farhan Akhtar though, included his own mark and style with a super twist in the climax to the original and SRK did the rest. So, Farhan had to make sure that the sequel also carries forward the style and the twists. One has to agree that Farhan Akhtar has pulled it off!
The tale of Don 2 starts with where the first part ends, with Don narrating his story of how he’s become the king of the Asian drug market. Now Don has his eyes set on the European market but, the European drug lords do not want Don’s domination over them and try to have him killed. Don escapes the attempt, and devises his own plan to get rid of the European bosses. Farhan Akhtar made sure that the story had all the twists and thrills of a thriller on the lines of MI, Bourne and Bond. The movie is a perfect thriller, and the audiences are sure to have a blast.
If Shahrukh Khan is the one liable for pulling you to the theatres, believe me, you are not going to be dissatisfied. He is a pure joy to watch on the screen. He just gets into the skin of the character and carries of all the various looks in the film with extreme finesse. His one liners, the way he walks, talks and laughs as Don – simply brilliant. Shahrukh exudes such panache while playing the bad guy that he makes us feel it is in fact good to be bad. Not only Sharukh Khan’s fans are in for a treat but, movie going audience is just going to love what this charismatic megastar is going to offer.
Priyanka Chopra does not have a big role to play but she does her bit well. The same goes to Lara Dutta but she does her bit graciously. Boman Irani is back as Vardhan, and as always he delivers a brilliant act. Om Puri is retained as Malik, but the veteran does not have a lot of scope for performance. Kunal Kapoor is alright. Hrithik Roshan makes a guest appearance, and I would not want to disclose as to why he comes, because that would be a spoiler. His salsa with Priyanka Chopra is good.
The movie belongs to Farhan Akhtar as much as it does to Shahrukh Khan. Farhan, who is also the writer of the film, has done yet another wonderful job. His dialogues are simple yet cheesy and are sure going to tickle your funny bone. The first half sets the pace for the movie and the second half just kicks off from there. Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is alright, although there is only one song in the movie. This was to make sure that there were no hindrances in the screenplay. Action sequences have been very elegantly choreographed. The camera work is wonderful and the editing is crisp. As is the case with all Farhan Akhtar’s movies, the production values are wonderful.
Overall, it’s a SRK-Farhan’s film. It is praiseworthy to watch.

A source close to the actress tells, “For a very long time Kat has been quietly helping her mother with all the philanthropic work that she does in Pondicherry, for deprived children. Katrina feels an online helpline for women through a website would be a good idea. Earlier she was in the midst of designing her own website. But at this point of time she feels a website devoted to women who are too embarrassed to discuss their distress on the phone and television, would be far more in-sync with what she feels is the correct way to use her strength on the internet.”
Katrina tells, “I am told I am ahead of people who have achieved a lot more than me. I really don’t take that seriously.
Just being an Internet-favorite is not of much use unless you do something substantial with what you have. I am looking at other ways to carry forward the clout that my name might generate on the web. But it’s too early to share my plans.”

Bipasha is a new harmless liar!

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu told she wants to become a harmless liar because sometimes lies help in getting out of sticky situations.
'In 2011, I took a resolution that I am going to learn (the art) of lying a bit as it sometimes helps. I am a pathetic liar. In 2011, I failed badly. So in 2012, I think, I will try and perfect a bit.
'I will try to learn to say harmless lies. I want to be a harmless liar and sometimes I'll lie to get out of sticky situation media puts you into,' she told while addressing a promotional media conference of her up coming film 'Players'.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the action thriller is based on 2003 Hollywood film 'The Italian Job' and also features Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sikander Kher.
Releasing Jan 6, the movie has been shot in India, New Zealand and Russia.
It was loyalty factor that forced the 32-year-old to sign the star studded movie.
'Firstly, it was my loyalty to my first directors and I know whenever they make a film, it always entertains the audience and it is always a winner. Also, the fact that every time they had presented me on screen, it received rave reviews. When I heard the screenplay, it was really fascinating,' told Bipasha.
She made her Bollywood debut with Abbas-Mustan's 'Ajnabee' and later featured in their 2008 hit 'Race'.
Talking about 'Players', she told, 'We are making an adaptation of 'The Italian Job'. But it not exactly the 'The Italian Job' because it was made in 2003 and this adaptation will cater the needs of 2012. So, the action is bigger. There are new characters, the screenplay has more twists and turns. It is more of an Abbas-Mustan kind of thriller now.'
Bipasha also enjoying the reviews she is receiving for her dance number 'Ho gayi toon' in the movie.
'The song is important to the screenplay. People like it and I am really excited about it. We tried to adopt the cabaret and costume of Helenji's era,' she told.

Shahid Kapoor turns down 'Chitthiyan'!

No more romantic stories for Shahid Kapoor - he has seemingly turned down Vidhu Vinod Chopra's love triangle 'Chitthiyan'.
'I haven't accepted any new offer except Maneesh Sharma's. And it would be inappropriate to talk about the films I've said no to,' told the 30-year-old actor.
It seems that Chopra met Shahid and narrated the story. However, the actor, who has just done a full-on love story 'Mausam', is in no mood to go ultra-romantic so quickly again.
A close friend of Shahid tells, 'He is hearing at an average one script every day. For some strange reason, most of the films on offer, including Anand ('Tanu Weds Manu') Rai's 'Ranjhana', are love stories. Ideally, Shahid would want to do an action film next.'
'Shahid has the highest regard for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's work and was keen to work with him. But a love story is not what he wants to do at the moment. He meant no offence to Mr. Chopra and would like to work with him in the future. At the moment the only movie Shahid has said yes to is Maneesh Sharma's next for the Yash Raj Films...'

Abhishek gets the biggest lesson from horse-riding lessons!

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who spent his weekend attending a horse-racing competition, tells he learnt the biggest lesson of his life while taking riding sessions.
'When I was a kid, I used to go to Juhu beach along with five-six other children to learn riding. The first time I sat on a horse, the horse threw me off... My trainer asked me to immediately go and sit again on the horse and said that if you don't go and sit now, the fear will reside inside you and you will never be able to ride a horse. That was one of the greatest life lessons you can ever have,' the 35-year-old actor told here at the Mid-Day Trophy horse-racing event.

“As actors, we really don’t get time to sit and enjoy the appreciation we get. You have to move on. Now my next film `Agneepath` is releasing. I am shooting for `Barfee` and Kunal Kohli`s next. So, it’s a never ending cycle. I am happy that I have a never ending cycle,” Priyanka told.

Aamir Khan spends at least 2-3 hours daily with his new born!

Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao
Actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao are overjoyed over their new born.
Aamir Khan told at an event in Mumbai to launch the DVDs of Dhobi Ghat, “It is a great joy to be a father. Both Kiran and I are really overjoyed about the baby being born. It’s a real joy…it’s a miracle. A baby being born is like a miracle and nothing comes close to it.”
The duo named their son Azad Rao Khan.
Aamir also disclosed that he makes it a point to be in company with his son for at least 2-3 hours daily.
“I tickle up his little toes and then snuggle him…since he is very small so he does not know who I am. But he knows that somebody comes and troubles him every day for two-three hours,” Aamir told smilingly.
The actor included, “We can’t get enough of Azad. For the first time Kiran has stepped out of the house since the baby was born and we are keen on getting back home soon,” he said.

Salman gives up the Over Protective nature for girlfriends!

Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif’s newest item number, ‘Chikni Chameli’, has won millions of hearts. The Indian audiences have given her a thumbs up once again, first being ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’.
One person who is really proud and happy with the actress is none other than her ex boyfriend and current close friend, Salman Khan. Katrina’s latest item number is said to have made a special place in Salman’s heart.
A source tells, “Salman praised Katrina’s ‘Chikni Chameli’ number saying that he loved the dance moves and Kat’s attitude and expressions in the song. In fact he also added that she should do more such sizzling dance numbers.”
Buzz has it that, Salman Khan is slowly mending his ways. The actor who is known for his domineering and possessive ways is now sobering down. Says the source, “Salman, right from his ex girlfriend Somi Ali’s time to even Katrina, till couple of years ago, was known to be very protective and possessive for his ladies. A couple of his former girlfriends were even made to walk out of films which he felt would not show them in good light or if asked to don any skimpy outfits.  Even when Katrina would work with other actors, he would affected and hence never watched any of her films. So for him to appreciate and acknowledge Kat’s raunchy item number is a big deal!”
According to source, this change in Salman Khan may be because the actor is planning to at last settle down. “He has had issues, be it his possessive behavior or expecting the girls he loved to be like his mother. But along with his change in his working style, it seems like he is also changing his outlook towards matters of the heart. And what affirms the positive change is Katrina’s presence at almost every family event. Despite them maintaining their ‘nothing but good friends’ stand, the latest developments indicate a rosy picture. Right from spending time working together on Ek tha Tiger to being present at Farah Khan house warming bash, the so called friendship surely seems to have changed for better,” adds the insider.

Salman is not in mood to follow SRK’s 3D path!

If rumors are to be believed, the makers of Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead, are planning on converting the movie from 2D to 3D. 3D version being the latest fasination in Bollywood, many of the studios has approached Aditya Chopra and Kabir Khan to shift their latest from 2D.
However, Salman Khan on hearing this without delay gave a firm NO. Well, we know the reason for his NO. It seems that, SRK’s Ra.One and Don 2 are in 3D version and so Salman is not keen on being the formers follower.
Tells a unit member from the sets of the movie, “Director Kabir Khan was the first to dismiss making Ek Tha Tiger in 3D. And his decision was strongly supported by Salman, who categorically stated, ‘I don’t believe in herd mentality. The film will not have a cutting edge.
